Fakemon: Torcupine

Description

Alright, here's the story: the other day in my World Civilizations class, we were talking about the battle of Thermopylae- you know, the 300 Spartans (and some thousand Thespians who are never remembered) versus tens, possibly hundreds, of thousands of Persians.
Anyway, we were looking at a picture of a phalanx. For my non-history-buff friends (which I seem to have surprisingly few of), a phalanx is a formation where Greek soldiers line up in a grid, with the men at the front holding their shields and spears pointed forward, and all of the ones behind them hoisting them pointed up above their heads.
You know how teachers like to give mnemonic devices and silly phrases to help students remember things? Well, my teacher compared the phalanx to a cross between a turtle and a porcupine. She then tried to mix the two words, at which point I remarked that the words she was using sounded like names of Pokémon. And thus, Torcupine was born.

Not bad for my first time doing digital art in months, eh? :eyes: I'm glad I took the extra hour to do shadows and wrinkles- I'm so much happier with it. :D

And guess what? I made this with deviantART muro (after tracing lineart from my journal :P ).

LOL Mrs Mac did the same analogy for us xD

Are you excited to watch Hercules? :3 I am. Even if they did butcher the real story to Disney-fy it.

This is actually kind of a cute little creature thing. I wouldn't want to cuddle with it though :XD:
